FAQs

What is Escape Boats?

Live action escape rooms on board a real boat in Dublin. You and your team are placed on board and have to solve a number of clues and puzzles to unlock the mysteries of the boat and escape. It is an exhilarating and challenging adventure experience for teams from 2 players to 10 players. We have two escape room games – SOS and CONVICTS.

SOS is the original Escape Boat game, and places your team in the engine room of the deserted ship Zorg Ella. You and your team must restore power to the mysterious ship, navigate your way through the ships compartments, solving puzzles and problems along the way, and try to escape the boat – before it’s too late!

CONVICTS is our newest game and places you and your team in the prison cells on board the Convict Ship, Zorg Ella. You and your team mates are about to be shipped off to Australia as Convicts. Can you solve the mysteries of the boat and escape the ship before the Captain returns and sends you off to a life of penury?

Who can play?

Groups from 2 to 10 people can play the individual games (up to 16 players can play the two games at one time). There is an certain element of physicality to the game so unfortunately the game may not be suitable if you have mobility issues.

What do I need to wear?

Please wear sensible clothing – comfortable footwear (no high heels!) and be aware that you will have to wear a safety helmet for the duration of the game (just in case you bang your head!).

What ages is the game suitable for?

Anybody from the age of 12 can play although any children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. If you have younger children and you want to bring them to play you may do so, but please let us know in advance by email. Please be aware that children under 18 may find the game confusing. Also please note that our games may not be suitable for large groups of under 18’s. If you have a group request for under 18’s please make this clear when booking and we can advise you about the game.

Do I need to pre-book?
Yes – pre-booking is essential and you can do so HERE. We kindly ask that bookings be made 24 hours in advance however you can book online up to 6 hours before a game. If you want to play at the last minute please give us a call on 086-1700457 and we’ll see if we can fit you in, but to avoid disappointment we recommend all players book their escape game in advance.
Please note that groups of 7 or more players must be booked and fully paid in advance.
Can I cancel or reschedule my booking?

Yes – as long as you contact us at least 24 hours in advance we will do our best to accommodate you for another booking or arrange a refund. Please note that this does not apply to group bookings (7+ players).

Please note that groups of 7 or more players are classed as group bookings and must be fully paid in advance. Group bookings must be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance of the game otherwise we will be unable to offer any refund.

How long will it last?

The game itself lasts approximately 60 minutes but you should arrive 15 minutes before your booking time so that our staff can brief you and your team before the game.

I have a large group – can we do the game together?
We can accommodate large groups. The maximum that can currently play the SOS game is 6 and the Convicts game is 10. Games are played over 60 minutes which means groups of up to 16 can play the games at the same time. Larger groups (17+) can be arranged by playing games consecutively over the course of a few hours and this can be done in tandem with other entertainment. We can arrange packages for groups so please email us for further details on info@escapeboats.ie
Please note that all groups must be booked and paid for in advance and any cancellations or adjustments must be made a minimum of 24 hours in advance. Late cancellations or adjustments are non refundable. If you have a group of under 18’s please make sure to make this clear in your enquiry as the games may not be suitable for this age group.
Can I take photos in the room?

Sorry – no.  Photos or video recording is not allowed in the room and we will ask you to leave your phones at the reception before you start the game. We would also ask that you do not share any of the puzzles or secrets of the game with the public as you will spoil the game for others. The fun of the game relies on the element of surprise and mystery so we ask for your understanding in this matter.
